The potential passing of the California flavored tobacco ban has been a non-stop pull-and-tug between vape advocates and people pushing for stricter vape regulations since the year 2020. At the moment, the passing of the law is on hold after advocates gathered enough signatures for a veto of the referendum.

This year, voters and vape advocates alike have one more chance to reject Proposition 31 and veto the bill passed by the state legislature. Now it’s fully up to vapers, a.k.a. your customers, to submit their vote on November 8th.

What Is Proposition 31?

California Prop 31 in 2022 is a ban that covers flavored vaping products and prevents them from being sold in brick-and-mortar vape stores like yours. The ban even covers zero-nicotine vape juices and flavor additives, which means it’s far from being solely a nicotine ban, on top of other non-vaping products more relevant to smoking laws in California and closely related to tobacco prohibition.

November 8th is a crucial date to let your customers know about because it is the moment when residents will have the chance to veto the California referendum. If the 2022 vape flavor ban passes, it would mean that all flavored vaping products will no longer be available at any store in the California area, including yours, even if the FDA authorizes flavored products down the line.

This ban would not include online sales. However, online sales already follow strict regulations according to California vape laws, as you’re probably already aware.

Advice for Your Customers on How To Register to Vote in California

In accordance with the California state legislature, all residents may register to vote online here. On top of it all, voting against Proposition 31 may also be done through universal mail-in ballots.

Registration for in-person voting is available until Oct. 24th. Delivering the mail ballot may be done in person until November 8th as well.
